Plexiglass ® is a brand name for acrylic plastic, a synthetic polymer developed in Acrylic is often used as a glass alternative—hence one manufacturer branded it Plexiglass ® in Acrylic starts as the liquid chemical compound methyl methacrylate MMA and a catalyst is introduced to begin polymerization that turns it into a solid plastic after being heated and cooled.
